AP Chemistry
his AP Chemistry course is intended for those who wish to deepen their understanding of the composition, structure, and properties of matter. Students will learn about energy as it relates to chemical systems and about transformations of matter. Topics include Molecular and Ionic Compounds, Intermolecular Forces, Acid-Base Reactions, Kinetics, Thermodynamics, and Equilibrium.
The class is designed to prepare students for the AP Chemistry Exam and closely follows the course description outlined by the College Board. Homework assignments, tests, and exams are written with the AP exam format in mind. Students make local arrangements to take the AP exam.
The AP Chemistry course includes a laboratory component designed to meet the College Board standards and is currently in the process of review by the College Board. Hands-on labs require a materials kit that must be purchased separately by the students.
Live class sessions include interactive problem solving to ensure understanding and mastery. Students collaborate in small groups using writing tablets to work through problems under the guidance of the instructor.
Those who sign up for AP Chemistry should have already completed a general high school Chemistry course as well as an Algebra II course.
"I just want to say thank you, Mr Jawad. Because of your class, Chemistry has gone from one of my least favorite subjects, to one of my favorites."
