Conversational Russian through multimedia
The aim of this course is to enhance conversational Russian skills for second year students and above. The course focuses on animations and exercises that are based on classical Russian cartoons and movies. The main textbook is “Animation for Russian Conversation” which features the use of authentic Russian materials. The basic exercises of this book emphasize repetition of familiar vocabulary and grammatical structures of Intermediate Russian in collaboration with activites that are designed for the advanced level of Russian. This course will help students to develop conversational skills, acquire new grammar and enjoy learning about Russian culture through the most famous Russian multimedia.
This is a flexible course which can help less advanced students develop their conversational ability while also challenging advanced students to greater fluency and grammatical precision.

Anna Shkireva, M.A.
Anna Shkireva is from Nizhny Novgorod, Russia. She received her MA degree in International Relations from the State University of Nizhny Novgorod and completed her second MA degree in TESOL at the University of New Mexico. Now, Anna is working toward her PhD in Language, Literacy and Sociocultural Studies. Her main interests are second language acquisition, instructional communication and classroom applications that support the development of students’ interest and persistence. Anna is passionate about teaching and learning foreign languages, sharing Russian culture with students, hiking, snowboarding, running and kayaking. Her next personal goal is to climb Mt. Kilimanjaro.
