High School Greek IV and V: Greek Reading
Greek Reading is the next step after CLRC Greek 3 and is open to students who have completed the equivalent of one year of college level Greek using texts such as Athenaze, Hansen and Quinn, Chase and Phillips, Crosby and Schaeffer, or Mastronarde. If you are interested in the class but unsure if you are sufficiently prepared please CONTACT US.
Greek Reading focuses on reading actual Greek texts. Reading selections vary from year to year but may include Athanasius, Herodotus, Homer, Lucian, Plato, Plutarch, Thucydides, and Xenophon. The course includes regular review of grammar and vocabulary in the context of the assigned readings.
Please note: The readings in the class vary from year to year. Not all the texts listed below are read each year. In Fall 2021 we will begin with Book 4 of Xenophon's Anabasis using Geoffrey Steadman's text with running vocabulary and grammatical notes - see below. We will determine the next texts based on the interests of the class.
