High School Greek 4 and 5: Greek Reading

Greek Reading is the next step after CLRC Greek 3 and is open to students who have  completed the equivalent of one year of college level Greek using texts such as  Athenaze, Hansen and Quinn, Chase and Phillips, Crosby and Schaeffer, or Mastronarde. If you are interested in the class but unsure if you are sufficiently prepared please  CONTACT US.

Greek Reading focuses on reading actual Greek texts. Reading selections vary from  year to year but may include Athanasius, Herodotus, Homer, Lucian, Plato, Plutarch, Thucydides, and Xenophon. The course includes regular review of grammar and vocabulary in the context of the  assigned readings.

Please note: The readings in the class vary from year to year.  Not all the texts listed below are read each year. For Fall 2023 we will begin with A Patristic Greek Reader. Our second text will most likely be Herodotus' Histories Book 1 but a final decision will be made in consultation with the students who enroll in the class.

"As a homeschooling teacher with a California teaching credential and over 40 years of teaching experience, I can't give enough plaudits to Anne Van Fossen and her remarkable ability to teach. Her classes are interesting, challenging and fun — all at the same time."
