Do you have a 5-year-old who is ready to begin his journey into academics, but you are not sure where to start? Do you want a program that is peaceful and gentle, yet still provides a purposeful pathway to help him gain the skills he needs to be ready for formal education? Do you feel strongly that what your kindergarten student needs is a wholesome education that knits together the movements of the seasons, the dynamics of your own family life, and the Festal cycles and liturgical rhythms of the Orthodox Christian Faith?  If so, then the CLRC’s Integrated Kindergarten curriculum may be just what you are looking for.

In this course, Natalia Wooten joins CLRC to share her experience in preparing children for the elementary school years with homeschool parents. The program is designed to provide a gentle but solid foundation in math and letter sounds while giving options for activities to develop many other skills that can be easily implemented by the busy homeschool parent. The foundational lesson for each day is drawn from the spiritually rich Orthodox liturgical calendar, or from the natural world.

    The program includes:

    • A weekly live class which parents and children attend together
    • Complete weekly plans as well as suggestions for a daily rhythm
    • Parent meetings and individual help

PLEASE NOTE: This course is not eligible for Charter School funding.

    Weekly Live Class

During the 1 to 1 ½ hour weekly live class, Natalia presents "circle time" activities and a main lesson including:

    • Poetry
    • Finger plays
    • Folk songs
    • Solfege (singing)
    • Read aloud
    • Alphabet instruction
    • A Seasonal lesson

Students have the opportunity to show what they have learned and done in the past week.

Parents attend the class with their children and get structure and guidance for the coming week.

    Integrated Curriculum

Each week parents receive a plan that includes:

    • Poetry
    • Folk songs
    • Read aloud
    • Finger plays
    • Alphabet instruction
    • Fine and gross motor skills
    • Life skills and cooking
    • Outdoor games
    • Counting and numbers
    • Seasonal activities and arts/crafts
    • Thinking games

Families may choose to implement as much or as little of each of these as they want, and may substitute other resources they already have, if preferred.

      Parent Meetings

Natalia will also hold parent meetings to discuss homeschool strategies and provide guidance and support to the families in the program and be available for individual consultation as well.
