Know Your Faith

This Know Your Faith course will equip students with a strong working knowledge of the Orthodox Christian Faith and seek to improve their capability to communicate this knowledge with non-Orthodox Christians confidently and creatively.  The textbook—Know the Faith: A Handbook for Orthodox Christians and Inquirers— introduces our Orthodox Faith in a topical format (e.g. Church, Grace, Salvation, Iconography, The Virgin Mary, etc.), with comparison and contrast to Protestant and Roman Catholic beliefs and assumptions.  Emphasis is placed on biblical and early patristic evidence as the basis for our Orthodox Christian teachings.

Rev. Fr. Michael Shanbour, author of Know the Faith (Ancient Faith Publishing) will lead the course, encouraging students’ participation and discussion on theological issues as well as personal experiences and anecdotes. Suggested homework assignments only.

Class Not Offered in 2020 – 21.
