Summer Latin 3.5

Grades 9+

If you've completed the Latin Grammar and are ready for a first step into Latin literature, this class is for you! We'll read exciting excerpts from the Itinerarium Peregrinorum et Gesta Regis Ricardi - a firsthand account of the Third Crusade led by Richard the Lionheart.

Join us to discover how King Richard was almost killed by a wild boar, about an archery contest between a Persian and a Welshman, the battles of Arsuf and Jaffa, and all the other epic and sometimes weird adventures found in this text.

The Itinerarium, written in fairly simple and straightforward Latin, is a wonderful starting point for reading Latin. The class will include grammar review as needed. More advanced students, with one or more years of Latin reading experience are welcome to join us as well!

Prerequisites: High School Latin 3 or by permission of the instructor.
