Writer's Workshop

his class focuses on the writing process and builds the skills needed to present a closely-reasoned logical argument. Class sessions will discuss examples of good writing and well-developed arguments. Students will write 1.5-2 page papers each week which focus on a different ‘claim’ to support their argument – Claim of Fact, Claim of Value, and Claim of Policy. As each short paper is submitted, the instructor will suggest changes and edits. Using this feedback, students revise each claim essay and then combine these short papers into a final 5-6 page essay.

This course may be taken for a half-semester high school credit. Students who wish to take the course for credit will watch several additional instructional videos.
